Welcome

Welcome to my Blog. I am always trying to find new and unique ways to express myself through my glass. My work has evolved into my favorite item; pet cremation remembrance pendants. This is where I permanently fuse ashes between layers of glass. My most recent creation is my sepia - pictures in glass, where I take a picture and fuse it into glass. I have also done a few remembrance items with people's ashes which turned out amazing.

My glass can be purchased on either of my two websites

Night Lights and wine bottle stoppers Fresh from the Kiln

I'm getting ready for my craft show the weekend of 10/20/11 and I just pulled some beautiful items out of the kiln today.  Here's a few items that came out.

The animal items will all be night lights.  I will be making some drawer pulls to go with them, as well as I've finished two children's clocks.  The lighting is terrible but I was so exited I wanted to put some pictures up for you to see.  The elephant is just as cute as can be.

My next pictures are a couple of Christmas items.  I'm not sure If I'll make them into night lights or if I'll make them into wine stopper tops.  My favorite one is the light green with Christmas ornaments down the front.

I hope you like them or they inspire your own creativity.

Beautiful platters I just finished in the kiln

As I am getting ready for my craft show October 21, 2011, I realized I love jewelry so much, that's mostly what I had.  I did make some new rings on sterling silver ring bases as well as some new mosaic book marks.  I thought I should now trying to concentrate on some platters similar to my platter that was featured in Culture Magazine.  The first two pictures are still in the kiln so they look like they have white in the middle because they're on a white paper in the kiln.  The glass in the middle where it looks white is actually a clear glass that you can see through.  The platter that has blue and green in it is absolutely amazing.  The 2nd picture, where it's just blue and clear is similar to the platter in the magazine, but much larger. I'll be gluing four glass feet on the bottom of the platters so they'll sit just above the counter top, as shown in picture three which was the platter that was featured in culture cheese magazine.  I think these platters will be a great addition to my craft show.

What I'm working on

October is just around the corner and I'll be selling my fused glass at the McQueen craft fair.  I'm still trying to work on perfecting colored bubbles in glass.  I've made a couple fused glass night lights and platters but I have a little more work to do before I'm happy with them.

The picture above shows one of my sample pieces with bubbles in it. I fused 16 test pieces and this one was my favorite.  I hope to perfect the bubbles and eventually sell it.  For now, I'm just trying to get it exactly how I want it. I've probably tried 40 pieces and several kilns full of glass to get it how I want it.  I've made a couple of night lights with several colors but the bubbles weren't as big as I wanted so I'm still going to make some more.

I was very busy today and was able to start both kilns today.  My small kiln has some pendants that I tried my newest bubble mixture in, so I'll see tomorrow if they turned out.  I also started my larger kiln this evening and it has a beautiful green platter as well as a  beautiful burnt red pet memory picture frame for a friend of mine.  Not sure if the picture frame will turn out because the paper I use to keep the glass separated for the picture to go in, might not come out from the glass.  Last time I fused the green frame, it was extremely difficult to get the paper out. After 30 minutes, I finally did it, but I could reach the bottom of where the paper was. That's because it only went down about 4".  The burnt red frame will have a space for a 5 x 7 picture to go in, which means it goes down 7".  It will be a shame if it doesn't come out because of how long it took me to make it.

I am also making some more of my mosaic pendants. They're in the kiln and it's my 2nd time firing.  I have 1-2 more times to fuse in the kiln before I can call them pendants, but I have some new colors and so far they look really beautiful.

I'll post some more pictures when I have them.

Pet Memory Cremains Photo Wall Hanging

I just finished my first pet memory wall hanging.  It measures approximately 10" wide x  7" long.  I took a translucent green glass for the base and fused a clear piece on top so you can see the 4" x 6"picture clearly.  I sprinkled some dichroic pieces around the picture as well as fusing two etched dichroic cats at the top.  My pet ashes are shaped into a heart just below the picture.

To finish it off, I took some picture hanging wire to give it some strength and put a couple of beads on the wire.

I'm very happy how it turned out.  I have listed a custom made picture frame on both of my websites if you are interested.

Platter featured in Culture Magazine

This beautiful blue platter is my first item featured in a magazine so I wanted to share it.  Although the price was listed wrong, it was still amazing to be featured in this wonderful magazine. I hope it inspires you if you are another fused glass artist.

This one has already been sold, but if you want one made to your specifications, I would love to make another one.

I wanted to show you new pictures of my new pet cremation pendants as well as one of my new Loved Ones options where it shows a parent and child or grandparent and child under a gazebo of flowers.  I hope you like what you see.  I have one more option with a sunset and walkway, but I don't have pictures yet.  Here's a link to my flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/addicted2glassfusion

My new paw print will be a great addition to my Pet Memory jewelry.  Here are a few pictures for you to see.

Fresh from the kiln May 2011 Cremation jewelry for pets and people ashes

I hope you like some of my new glass. Most of the pictures are of items still inside my kiln so some of the glass is facing different directions. The cute animals I thought would make great drawer pulls for a child’s bedroom dresser or even a bathroom. I have a zebra, monkey, elephant, and giraffe. I also have a unicorn shape that would be darling as drawer pulls as well as a pendant for a little girl.
I fired some new cremation jewelry pieces. One is a large dog paw print and a got a new cat style. Two other new styles are for cremation for people's ashes. One is a beautiful path to a sun and the other is a parent with a child and they will make wonderful gifts for those that would like something unique with ashes of their loved ones. I'm getting so busy with my memory jewelry that I thought it was time to make use of my big kiln and fire it with a lot of colors.

You can also see where I've tried to write pets names on some of the backs of some pendants. Some of the letters didn't turn out well or at all, but for my first time, I was pretty pleased with it. I will definitely try again. It also didn't work to have lettering and heart shaped ashes, so the ashes really don't look like I'd like them to.  I won't market the name on the back until I can figure out why the letters didn't turn out very well.
Finally, I fused some musical notes and they are really stunning. I can't wait to list them.

Pet Memory Cremation Items

I've been really working hard on coming up with some new ways to create my pet memory, cremation items.  I've come a long way since I started.  Some of the pictures I'm posting are from one of my pet's ashes and some are my customer's items that I took pictures of.

The first several pet memory pendants are my dichroic etched pendants.

The pendant below was painted with glass and the ashes are sprinkled in the sky to represent the pet in heaven.  In person, where the ashes were sprinkled, it looked like clouds in the sky.  It was my first pendant for a customer.

These next few items are some of my mosaic pendants with ashes

The picture above is to show you how I've learned to shape the pet ashes into a heart shape. It gives it the most perfect finish to such a wonderful remider of your pet.

This final piece is my first sun catcher I've made.  I fused a wire in between the glass for hanging in a window.  I fused my cat's ashes on top of the heart shape and I sprinkled it with different glass powders and dichroic glass.  It really turned out amazing.  I can't wait to put a ribbon on top and hang it in the window.

swirl art mirrors, purse hooks and wine stoppers

I'm really excited to announce my new items.  I have taken a few pictures for now and will get a few more posted soon when I can.

My swirl art isn't glass, but it's amazing and unique.  No two will ever have the same design.

My compact mirrors have two mirrors inside.  On the outside a floral design is engraved on one side and the swirl art is glued to the other side.  They measure approximately 2 1/2" in diameter.

My purse hooks or purse hangers measure 1 3/4" in diameter when closed.  They have a rubber backing to prevent slipping off of the surface of the table.  They will fit onto tables that have a thickness of 2 1/8" or less.

Finally, I have wine stoppers.  They are wonderful for the wine lover in your life.

Let me know what you think of these items.  Hopefully in the next several weeks you'll see these posted on my artfire site as well as my etsy site.

Pet memory and recycled bottles

It's amazing what a little light can do.  I finally hired an electrician and had him instal 3 large lights in my studio.  I'm so happy.  I just wish I had installed them earlier.  Now I don't have to stop working late afternoon if I don't want to.

I'm trying to perfect my cremation/memory items.  I have finished my first hanging sun catcher.  The back of it has an indentation of a heart and the ashes are on the top in the shape of a heart.  I've learned how to shape the ashes into a heart and it really makes the whole pendant really special.  I can't wait to hear what my customer thinks of it when she gets it.

I've also been keeping many, many wine bottles until I had just the right idea for them.  I am running my kiln now and I hope it turns out.  If it works, I'll have a wine bottle with my initial behind it.  I'll post a picture of it here to let you see if it worked or not.

My new bookmarks

Life has been busy for me, but getting back into my studio more.  I've completed a lot of new bookmarks.  They've turned out really great.  I've taken some of my piece of glass that didn't quite make it as pendants and found some really large paperclip style bookmarks to glue them to and boy did they turn out fantastic.

I've also been busy doing a lot of pet memory pendants.  I've had some requests to do people's ashes instead of pet ashes and I think that's a great idea, so I think I may include that in my listings.

I hope you like my new bookmarks.  I've posted a few on my etsy site and will be posting some on my artfire site very soon.
